AMPAS announces Nicholl finalists

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has announced the finalists for the 2011 Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship. Finalists were parsed from a record 6,730 submitted scripts and include seven individual writers and three writing teams. Scripts will be judged by the Academy's Nicholl Committee, and up to five of the $30,000 fellowships could be awarded. Winners will be expected to complete a feature-length screenplay during their fellowship year. Selected scripts in running for the fellowships are "Guns and Saris" (Chris Bessounian and Tianna Langham); "Cutter" (Dion Cook); "Blood Bound" (K.E. Greenberg); "Parasite" (Ehud Lavski); "Outside the Wire" (John MacInnes); "Fig Hunt: The Quest for Battle Armor Star Captain" (Aaron Marshall); "A Man of Clay" (Khurram Mozaffar); "Unicorn" (Matthew Murphy); "The Tiger's Child" (Abel Vang and Burlee Vang); and "A Many Splintered Thing" (Paul Vicknair and Chris Shafer).
